It's the end of 2009. That sentence might just qualify my name change to Captain Obvious, but it's still interesting to look at it on the screen (admittedly I might be too easily amused, but that's a problem that I need to deal with one day). Chinese year of the Tiger is coming up. The last year of the Tiger was spent in Hong Kong, beginning the transit to Australia. An amusing concept to say the least...makes me feel old!
Despite being well and truly out of the habit of thinking of resolutions, let alone attempting to fulfil them in the course of only one year, I have decided to formulate some, even adhere to them, if just this once.
First: Use of this blog. After recording a series of miscellaneous observations, general ramblings and scraps of poetry too awful to commit to work upon a veritable forest of otherwise inoffensive notebooks, I am going to endeavour to upload more writing online. This will ensure that notebooks are not defaced at such a liberal rate, if nothing else.
Second: To produce writing of a more professional standard. Years of idle scribbling have provided me with a few ideas that could do with some polish. Ever since I left fanfiction.net, the amount of writing that I have produced has reduced dramatically. Whether I return to ff.net in order to get some consistent constructive criticism, or at least a readership to prod me into writing more, I need to actually get some work online and look for more areas that inspire me to write greater quantities and better quality. Experimentalism is over - time to get stuff done.
... damn, that looks optimistic. Here goes nothing!
